Illinois Real Estate Transition Information
Salesperson to Broker
Salesperson can transition to a Broker by either:
- 1. Passing the Illinois Real Estate Proficiency Exam prior to 3/15/2012
(NO RETAKES- if licensee fails the Proficiency Exam they must complete the 30hr. course and school exam)
- 2. Completing 18hrs. of Continuing Education (CE) (9 core & 9 elective) prior to 4/30/2012
OR
- 1. Completing a 30hr. course (15hrs. must be in live classroom or interactive)
- 2. Pass the school's Final Exam
- NO Continuing Education (CE) is required if trasitioning using this method.
Brokers Licensed on or Before 4/30/2011 (and do not want to become a Managing Broker)
- Complete 12hrs. of Continuing Education (CE) (6 core & 6 elective) prior to 4/30/2012
Brokers Licensed on or before 4/30/2011 who WILL transition to Managing Broker
Brokers can transition to a Managing Broker by either:
- 1. Passing the proficiency exam prior to 3/15/2012
(NO RETAKES- if licensee fails the Proficiency Exam they must complete the 45hr. course and school exam)
- 2. Applying for the Managing Broker's License prior to 4/30/2012
- 3. Successfully completing 18hrs. of Continuing Education (CE) on or before 4/30/2013
- 4. Successfully completing 12hrs. of Broker Management (classroom or interactive) course on or before 4/30/2013
OR
- 1. Successfully completing 45hrs Transition Course & Exam (school exam) prior to 4/30/2012
- 2. Appyling for Managing Broker's License prior to 4/30/2012
- 3. NO BROKER MANAGEMENT COURSE REQUIRED
- 4. Successfully completing 18 hours of CE (9 Core & 9 Elective) on or before 4/30/2013
