Kansas Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

Continuing Education Hours

  • L/H - 12 hours including 1hour of Ethics - biennially
  • P/C - 12 hours including 1hour of Ethics - biennially
  • Combined L/H and P/C - 24 hours including 2 hours of Ethics - biennially  
  • 4 hours biennially for title insurance
  • 2 hours biennially for crop insurance and life licensees who sell only pre-need funeral insurance.

Specific Course Subject Requirements

    Ethics Requirement:
  • L/H or P/C - 1 hour Ethics biennially
  • Combined L/H and P/C - 2 hours of Ethics biennially

    extra Ethics hours count towards L/H or P/C requirement
    Flood Insurance Requirement:
  • One-time 3 hours course relating to NFIP
    Long Term Care (LTC) Requirements:
  • none
    Other State Specific Requirements:
  • Courses must be completed in the lines in which a license is held.

Continuing Education Due Date

  • Same as license renewal date

License Renewal Date

  • Agent's date of birth biennially.
  • Licensee's born in odd numbered years report in odd years, even numbered years report even years.

Course Repetition

  • Courses may not be repeated within a 2 year period.

Proctor/ Monitor Requirements For Final Exam

  • Exams are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party (Proctor)

    The proctor may not be a friend, relative, or co-worker of the licensee, nor anyone with a financial interest in the success of the licensee taking the examination.

Exemptions

  • Individuals licensed less than two years at the time of the compliance date

Certificates Of Completion

  • Print your certificate of completion online once you have completed your exam.

Reporting Of Continuing Education Hours

  • The course provider reports credits earned to the insurance department or its designated agency.
